We practice a freedom-centered approach because it gets the most from the team. When people enjoy what they do and have the flexibility to do a job their way, they'll be so much more engaged. Only 18% of people are engaged at work in the UK. This 18% are the most motivated and productive, essentially becoming psychological owners of the business. When your team has this mind-set, they start to think like owners, want to get involved in more areas of the business, and begin to show real enthusiasm and passion in what they're doing day-to-day. One of the things we learned was that we don't have to have all the answers. We now ask the team for solutions, and more often than not the best ideas come from the team rather than leadership. By focusing on engagement, we can grow the business with everyone on-board.
