Continuum performs lay-offs democratically

logo_stacked_rgb1Continuum, a third-time WorldBlu List awardee based in West Newton, Massachusetts, was featured in an article by the Christian Science Monitor: “Good ways to deliver bad news.” Continuum is a global design and innovation consultancy with offices in Boston, Milan, and Seoul.

Due to the economic climate, Continuum had to complete a 14% staff reduction this spring. However, throughout the process, it stayed true to its democratic ideals, such as transparency and dialogue & listening.

The article says that to “avoid confusion, executives at Continuum, a design and innovation consulting firm in West Newton, Mass., spent weeks planning the best way to lay off 18 employees.” As a result, the company was able to mitigate negativity among those being laid off and those remaining with the company.
